January 2009 saw the start of Cliffview’s own After School Centre. The centre is located on the school grounds and is managed and run by the school, for the care and welfare of Cliffview Pupils – and the peace of mind of their parents!
WAITING CLASS – the perfect solution for parents who can’t collect by 13:00 pm but don’t require Aftercare!
When the 13:00 bell rings to signify the end of the day for the Grade RR, R, 1 and 2 learners, the waiting class makes their way down to the Aftercare area and Waiting Class begins. Here the children are placed under the watchful eyes of the After School Centre staff. They are allowed to play under supervision until 14:00 pm. Children in the Waiting Class may be collected by their parents or their older siblings from the Aftercare area.
HOMEWORK CLUB – supervised homework and playtime till 17:30 in a homely environment. Meals included.
Homework Club (Aftercare) begins promptly at 13:00 pm and caters for all children in Grades R – 7.
Foundation Phase children are collected from their class and taken to the tuckshop where a cooked lunch is served.
Each phase (Senior, Intermediate and Junior) is allocated a homework supervisor and a classroom in which to do the homework. At 15.30 after their homework has been checked learners make their way to the play area. Children participating in an extramural will attend homework class after their extramural. On Fridays, since there is no set homework, learners will play under strict supervision from 13:00 until 17:30. Meals are provided at Homework Club as well as juice and a snack mid-afternoon. Homework Club is a fun place to be, where new friendships are made and the children get to play and exercise outdoors in the fresh air.
HOLIDAY CLUB – the holiday solution for working parents.
Our After School Centre is open throughout the year. During the holidays the Centre provides an interesting and exciting programme taking into consideration the varying interests of the children in our care. The programme includes sporting and creative activities. We have the use of the school field and therefore have lots of space for soccer games, cricket, volleyball etc.
The children need to enjoy their holidays so whilst lots of time is allowed for them to relax, socialize with friends and have fun, every effort is made to keep them busy and stimulated. Holiday care programmes are planned well in advance. The Holiday Club is included in the Homework club fee. All other Cliffview children are welcome.
